10-17-19: HB JV-145 vs CDM JV-212

The JV team completed its league season with a 145-212 victory over Corona del Mar on a 6 hole modified course at Meadowlark GC! Of course, it was senior day. So, playing in their last matches for the Oilers were Delaney Elkin, Riley Jackson, Karly Long and Samantha Rivas.  As the seniors came off the last green, they were presented with the traditional flowers by juniors Chizuki Maruyama and Katie Rogers. Co-medalists for the day were Chizuki Maruyama and Riley Jackson with scores of 27 each. They were followed by Delaney Elkin 28, Katie Rogers 31 and Samantha Rivas 32.

10-16-19: HB FS-199 vs Mater Dei FS-217

The Frosh-Soph team, the Oilers kept the unbeaten streak alive by downing the Monarchs of Mater Dei at DL Baker GC by a score of 199-217. It should be noted, for those of you who are new to the program, that the Frosh-Soph team has never lost a match…EVER!!  So, we close out 2019  with yet another undefeated season! Co-medalists for the day were Amanda Haidl and Emily Woodley with scores of 37 on this par 31 track.  They were followed by Ella Anderson 40, Sophia Arendt 42 and Audrey Golobay 43. Nice playing girls!

 

10-15-19: HB JV-234 vs Los Al JV-217

At Meadowlark GC, the JV team took on the Griffins from Los Al as well. Sadly, this team did not fare as well, losing by a score of 234-217. Scoring was a little on the high side for the Oilers today.   Medalist for the day was Riley Jackson with a score of 43.  She was followed by Chizuki Maruyama with a 45, Amanda Haidl 47, Katie Rogers 49 and Delaney Elkin 50.  JV’s have one more match on Thursday, so we hope to regroup for the finale.

10-15-19: HB FS-154 vs Los Al JV-156

The Frosh Soph team, down by 11 shots going in to the final grouping got a great surprise from sophomore Emily Woodley who came in with the medalist score to save the day as the team won by a score of 154-156 on the 6 hole modified course. Emily’s medalist score of 26 was followed by Paulina Jensen and Kyra Weisser with scores of 31 and Ella Anderson and Torie Rudd with scores of 33 to round out the scoring. So, the win keeps the Frosh Soph team’s unbeaten record intact.  Way to go girls!

 

10-10-19: HB JV-147 vs FV JV-174

The JV team took on Fountain Valley over at Meadowlark GC in a 6 hole contest.  Due to the late start time, the girls could only manage the shortened course. That was okay with the Oilers as they handily beat the Barons by a score of 147-174! Leading the way for the Oilers was Chizuki Maruyama with a score of 27 on this par 25 layout.  She was followed by Amanda Haidl with a 28, Riley Jackson 30, Kyra Weisser 31, and Torie Rudd 31.  Congrats ladies!

 

10-07-19: HB JV-197 vs CDM JV-280

The JV team traveled to Costa Mesa’s Los Lagos golf course to take on Corona del Mar HS.  In a dominant performance, the JV’s came away victorious by a score of 197-280!  This was the most lopsided victory of the season for the JV team.  Well done ladies!  Co-medalists in this one were Katie Rogers and Sandra Chan with matching scores of 37.  Other contributing scores were Ella Anderson 39, and Samantha Rivas and Torie Rudd with 42’s.  Every one of the Oiler JV’s beat the lowest score of Corona del Mar’s team by at least 9 shots!  Wow!!  Nice work!

10-03-19: HB JV-193 vs Los Al JV-182

Both the JV and FS teams traveled to the Navy Cruiser course in Cypress. The course setup was a little strange and the play was funky with temporary greens, but everybody had the same experience.  The JV team again had a tough day, losing to a strong Los Al team by a score of 193-182.  Co-medalists were Sandra Chan and Kyra Weisser with scores of 37 followed by Riley Jackson and Chizuki Maruyama with scores of 39 and Delaney Elkin/Katie Rogers with 41’s.  Again, JV’s it’s time to get back on track and get ready for the remainder of the season.

10-03-19: HB FS-215 vs Los Al FS-211

Coming through to save the day was the Frosh Soph team!  This group remains undefeated as they took down the Griffins by a score of 211-215. Medalist for the day was Emily Woodley with a score of 38!  Other contributing scores were:  Paulina Jensen 41, Torie Rudd 42, Ella Anderson 44 and Sophia Arendt/Peyton Holloway/Audrey Golobay 46 each. Way to go FS!

 

10-02-19: HB FS-170 vs Marina FS-186

At Meadowlark Golf Club this afternoon, the Frosh Soph team took care of business against Marina HS winning by a score of 170-186 on a 6 hole modified course.  Co-medalists today were Ella Anderson and Sophia Arendt (shooting a career best round) with scores of 31 each.  Other contributing scores were Torie Rudd 33, Paulina Jensen 37 and Peyton Holloway 38.  This victory keeps the FS team’s unbeaten streak alive, running its season record to 4-0!  Great work girls!

 

10-01-19: HB JV-190 vs Mater Dei JV-180

The JV girls took on Mater Dei HS at DL Baker. Unfortunately, the depth was not there today as the Oilers went down to defeat by a score of 190-180.  The medalist for the Oilers once again was Amanda Haidl with score of 35 on this par 31 track.  Amanda was followed by Sandra Chan with a 36, Kyra Weisser 37 and Chizuki Maruyama and Riley Jackson with matching scores of 41.

 

9-25-19: HB JV-185 vs FV JV-209

The JV and  FS teams were both in action at DL Baker, the JV’s against Fountain Valley and the FS against Edison.  It was a big day for both teams.
The JV’s came away with a convincing 185-209 victory.  The highlight of the day and of the season so far was a HOLE-IN-ONE by Kyra Weisser!! Coach Neil was right there to witness the shot.  As long as we have been coaching at HBHS, that is a first for the program!  Congrats Kyra!!  So, needless to say, Kyra was one of the medalists with a score of 35 on this par 31 track. Kyra was joined by Amanda Haidl with a matching score of 35. Other contributing scores were Katie Rogers 37, Chizuki Maruyama 38 and Sandra Chan 40. Congrats to all for some great playing!

9-25-19: HB FS-211 vs Edison FS-228

Our Frosh Soph team also got in to the win column again with a 211-228 victory over Edison’s FS team to keep the team’s undefeated streak alive! Playing the same course and same setup as the JV team, the medalist for the day was Emily Woodley with a great score of 38!  The other contributing scores to our team total were:  Ella Anderson 40, Torie Rudd 42, Peyton Holloway 45 and Paulina Jensen 46.  Great playing girls!

 

9-24-19: HB JV-191 vs Edison JV-190

The JV team traveled to DL Baker Golf Club yesterday to take on the Chargers of Edison HS. In a very spirited match, the Oilers came up 1 shot short, losing by a score of 191-190. ☹️  The medalist for the Oilers was Sandra Chan with a score of 35 on this par 31 course.  Other contributing scores were Riley Jackson 37, Katie Rogers 39, Amanda Haidl 40 and Kyra Weisser 40. Remember that every stroke matters!

 

9-19-19: HB FS-150 vs Edison FS-167

Capping off another perfect week, the Frosh Soph team took down the Chargers from Edison HS yesterday at Meadowlark GC by a score of 150-167.  On this 6 hole modified course, the medalist for the day was Kyra Weisser with a score of 28.  Congrats Kyra!  Right on Kyra’s heels were Ella Anderson and Torie Rudd with scores of 29.  Rounding out the scoring, Sophia Arendt and Emily Woodley contributed scores of 32. This victory brings the FS season record to 3-0.  Keep up the great work girls!!

 

9-18-19: HB JV-218 vs Mater Dei JV-227

Another day, another victory!
The Oiler JV team beat Mater Dei in a tough battle by the score of 218-227 at Meadowlark Golf Club!!  Sandra Chan took medalist honors with a score of 41.  Sandra was followed by Katie Rogers 42, Torie Rudd 44, Kyra Weisser 45 and Chizuki Maruyama 46.

 

9-17-19: HB JV-235 vs Marina JV-252

Our JV team took on Marina’s JV team at Meadowlark where the Oilers came away with a victory by the score of 238-252.  There were a bunch of clustered scores for the Oilers, showing the depth of the team.  Medalists were Ella Anderson, Sandra Chan and Amanda Haidl each with a score of 47, followed by Riley Jackson 48 and Katie Rogers 49.  Well done ladies!

9-12-19: HB JV-211 vs Laguna Beach JV-266

The Oiler JV team took on the Laguna Beach JV team at Meadowlark GC yesterday afternoon with similar results, defeating the Breakers by a score of 211-266!  Leading the way for the Oilers were co-medalists Amanda Haidl and Torie Rudd with matching scores of 39.  They were followed by Katie Rogers 42, Samantha Rivas 43 and Delaney Elkin 48.  Way to go girls!

 

9-11-19: HB FS-141 vs Mater Dei FS-179

The FS team took on a Mater Dei HS team today at Meadowlark GC on a par 22 modified 6 hole track and came away with a 141-179 victory.  Again, we had some girls with their all time best performances.  Strong scores included those of medalist Amanda Haidl with a score of 26.  She was followed by Kyra Weisser 28, Paulina Jensen 28 ( a breakthrough performance for Paulina as this was a season and career best), Peyton Holloway with a 29 (another season and career best) and Ella Anderson 30.  The FS team is now 2-0 on the season and looks to keep the streak going.  Way to go girls!!

 

9-10-19: HB JV-202 vs Long Beach Wilson JV-209

Our JV team traveled to Little Rec Park in Long Beach to take on the Bruins of Long Beach Wilson HS yesterday afternoon.The girls were able to pull out a victory in a close match, 202-209, extending their season record to 3-1. Medalist Sandra Chan shot a 36 which was 5 over the par for the course of 31. Also breaking the 40 barrier was Chizuki Maruyama with a score of 39. Other contributing scores were:  Riley Jackson 42, Kyra Weisser 42 and Katie
Rogers 43.  Congrats girls!!

 

9-9-19: HB FS-153 vs Marina FS-204

The Frosh Soph opened its season today hosting the Marina Vikings at Meadowlark Golf Club.  The Oilers came out swinging, defeating Marina by a score of 153-204 on the 6 hole modified course.  Amanda Haidl took medalist honors shooting a score of 26.  Ella Anderson also broke the 30 stroke barrier, recording a score of 28.  Other scores contributing to the final count were:  Emily Woodley 31, Paulina Jensen 33 and Peyton Holloway 35.  Nice job ladies!!  

 

9-5-19: HB JV-215 vs Santa Margarita JV-248

Well, the JV team was looking for a little payback after a tough 1 stroke loss last week to Santa Margarita at Casta del Sol Golf Club.  It was a very different story today as the Oilers took down Santa Margarita by a score of 215-248, a whopping 33 stroke victory!!  Our 3 top JV scorers this week were not able to play last week so having them back in the lineup made all the difference!  Medalist today was Riley Jackson, shooting a score of 40!  She was followed closely by Chizuki Maruyama 41, Torie Rudd 42, Sandra Chan 42 and Kyra Weisser (she asked that you do the math).  Great job today ladies!!

 

9-3-19: HB JV-226 vs LB Wilson JV-243

The JV team took it to the Bruins of Long Beach Wilson HS today at Meadowlark, beating them by a score of 226-243.  This is a nice bounce back victory after a tough loss last week to Santa Margarita who will travel to Meadowlark this Thursday for the rematch.  The medalist today was Chizuki Maruyama with a score of 43.  Congrats Chizuki!  Other counting scores today were:  Sandra Chan 44, Amanda Haidl 46, Katie Rogers 46 and Riley Jackson 47.  Congrats girls!

 

8-27-19: HB JV-217 vs Santa Margarita JV-216

The JV’s had a heartbreaker, losing to Santa Margarita by a score of 216-217 at Casta del Sol.  Remember girls that every stroke matters! Medalist for the Oilers was Torie Rudd in her first ever high school match with a score of 41.  Other contributing scores were Kyra Weisser 42, Katie Rogers 44, Amanda Haidl 44, and Ella Anderson 46.
