10/19/21   Surf League Preliminary Round

The Huntington Club showed its teeth today as the greens were fast and the pin placements were tough.  Today was a test of mental toughness, focus and patience.  This league also features the best that Orange County has to offer in terms of high school girls golfers.  So, the competition was exceptional.  Three Oilers managed to qualify to play in the Surf League finals to be held at the Mesa Linda course at Costa Mesa on Thursday afternoon.  Congratulations to Chloe Griffith 76, Annika Wang 84 and Sara Minsky 85 for moving on to the finals!!!

Chloe Griffith, Annika Wang and Sara Minsky played 18 holes at Mesa Linda Golf Course yesterday in the final round of the Surf League tournament.  The competition was fierce as these are many of the best players in all of Orange County.  Super congratulations to Chloe Griffith (72 yesterday)  and Annika Wang (78) who have advanced to the CIF Regionals Individual tournament to be held next week at Western Hills CC!!  Sara (87) came on strong at the end of our season and has a lot to be proud of going in to the off season.

10/27/21  Postseason CIF Round 1

Today at Western Hills CC, 137 players battled it out for 36 spots in next week’s tournament.  Firing a 79, Chloe Griffith finished in a tie for 21st place, good enough to advance to the next round.  Annika Wang, shooting a very respectable score of 84 finished in a tie for 50th place and just 3 shots out of the top 36 spots.  Congrats to Chloe and best of luck next Thursday, November 4th in Oxnard!

11/4/21   Postseason CIF Round 2

Chloe Griffith travelled to Oxnard and the day started with a very dense fog causing a half hour delay in the shotgun start.  When the event did start, the fog was still so heavy that there was a mist in the air.   The mantra has always been to finish strong and Chloe did just that, making birdies on 2 of her last 4 holes to make the cut on the number with a score of 75.  Yes, it took a 75 to move on to the next round!  These girls are good!  On to Brookside for Chloe next week.

11/11/21   Postseason CIF Round 3

Nobody in the history of the HBHS Girls Golf program has ever made it through to this level in the CIF Tournament and Chloe Griffith has now done it 2 seasons in a row! Today at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena, Chloe finished her 2021 golf season shooting a respectable score of 79 on the par 73 track.  However, at this elite level only the top 9 girls went on to the State Championship and that required a score of one under par 72!   Thanks to Chloe for representing HBHS and the Surf League in such stellar fashion!  We are all very proud of your accomplishments!
