5/4/21 - HB 215 VS Marina 231
On an emotional Senior Day afternoon at SeaCliff Country Club, the Oilers were able to keep things in check long enough to hold off Marina Vikings by a score of 215-231. While the team scoring was not as strong as usual, there were a couple of scoring highlights - Chloe Griffith had her career best round at SeaCliff shooting an even par 36 while freshman Samatha Trani had her personal best competative round of 41. Great Work Girls! But the day belonged to seniors Keely Tang, a four year varsity starter, and Katie Rogers who is completing her 3rd year in the program following her transfer from Mater Dei after her freshman year. Each of these girls contributed greatly to the HBHS program.
4/27/21 - HB 207 VS FV 196
The Varsity girls played hard but came up short against Fountain Valley, loosing by a score of 196-207 on a very windy afternoon. Medalist for the Oilers was Chloe Griffith with an excellent score of 37, a personal best at SeaCliff. Congrats Chloe! Right behind her was Keely Tang with a 38. These 2 seem to bring it every match. Other counting scores were: Chloe Aala, Stella Daniels, Samantha Trani and Elysse Joe, all with a score of 44.
4/22/21 - HB 216 VS Los Al 191
The Oilers opened league play at Candlewood CC again the Griffins from Los Alamitos. Medalist for the Oilers was Keely Tang with a score of 39. She was followed by Chloe Griffith 40, Chloe Aala 42, Stella Daniels 46 and Samantha Trani 49. Team scores were a little higher than normal, so time to get back to work, regroup and get ready for next week.
4/15/21 - HB 207 VS FV 202
The varsity team played Fountain Valley in a non-counting scrimmage today. The event took place at Candlewood CC, a very difficult track in Whitter. This course is a good test of shotmaking and strategy. The girls played well and learned a little more about how to play on a difficult course, an experiance that should serve them well over the remainder of the season. Medalist for the Oilers was Chloe Griffith with a great score of 37. She was followed by Keely Tang and Chloe Aala with a score of 41 each, Amanda Haidl with a strong 43 and Stella Daniels with a 45. Good playing girls!
4/12/21 - R. Murphy Invitational
The varsity team played in the R. Murphy invitational hosted by Great Oaks HS at the beautiful Temecula Creek Inn. It was an early start as we had a long drive to arrive at the golf course for a 7:30am check in and warm up. Temecula Creek Inn consist of three 9 hole courses, the tournament was played on the Stonehouse and Creek courses. Out of 16 teams, the Oilers managed a 5th place finish with a score of 434 (5 scores counted), bested only by perennial powerhouses Walnut HS (2 teams), Diamond Bar and the host school Great Oaks HS. So, even though our scores were on the high side, so were everyone else's. HB medalist for the tournament was Chloe Griffith with a score of 75 followed by Keely Tang with a score of 78. Congrats girls!
3/30/21 - HB 200 VS NH 238
The Oiler varsity team took on Newport Harbor HS at Costa Mesa Country Cub, coming away with a victory. HB varsity girls showed solid play today! Medalist for the round was Keely Tang with a score of 1 over par, 36. Right behind Keely was Chloe Griffith with a 38. Trending n a positive direction so far this season was Samantha Trani with 40. Rounding out the counting scores were Stella Daniels 42 and Chloe Aala 44. Well done ladies as the team moves to a record of 3-0!
3/25/21 - HB 217 VS LB 303
The Oiler varsity team was in action this afternoon in cold, windy condidtions at Candlewood Country Club, a tough layout in Whittier, which is rated as a more difficult course than our normal home course, Seacliff Country Club. Due to COVID, we needed to find another venue to play some of our home matchesthis year. Candlewood was kind enough to offer us some playing time. The girls managed to brave the conditions and take down Laguna Beach Breakers by a score of 217-303. Medalist for the day was Chloe Griffith with a great score of 38. Following Chloe were: Keely Tang 40, Samantha Trani 44, Chloe Aala 47, and Stella Daniels 48. Varsity is now 2-0 for the season.
3/22/21 - HB 204 VS CDM 232
After a very long delay, our competitive season finally got underway today. The varsity team took on Corona del Mar at the beautiful Newport Beach Country Club this afternoon. Everyone on the team played well today, especially as this marked the first varsity match for 3 of our 7 players. The Oilers defeated a much improved CDM team by a score of 204-232. Co-Medalists for the match were Keely Tang and Chloe Griffith with excellent scores of 38. The other 3 counting scores were: Chloe Aala with a 41, Stella Daniels 43, and Samantha Trani 44. Great playing girls!
